Discover the artistry of matcha preparation with our authentic Takayama Tea Whisks, handcrafted in Nara Prefecture. Each chosen is a product of traditional Japanese craftsmanship, meticulously shaped by artisans using techniques passed down through generations. This ensures that every whisk is not just a tool, but a work of art.

With only about 15 tea whisk craftsmen remaining in Japan the Takayama tea whisk is celebrated for its exceptional quality. These whisks are known for their flexibility and durability, making them ideal for creating matcha with a fine, smooth texture. Each whisk is crafted with the intention of lasting a long time, reflecting the dedication and skill of the artisans.

Craftsmanship Process - The creation of a Takayama tea whisk involves a complex, eight-step process, each step executed with precision and care:

1. Haratake: Selecting and cutting aged bamboo, choosing from white, black, or soot bamboo varieties.

2. Katagi: Initial shaping of the bamboo to form the whisk's tips.

3. Small Split: Further refining the splits for delicate whisking.

4. Ajikuri: Shaping the tip, crucial for influencing the matcha's taste.

5. Chamfer: Smoothing the edges to ensure no tea leaves stick.

6. First and Second Part: Braiding the base to secure the whisk's structure.

7. Waist Arrangement: Adjusting the overall size, height, and spacing for optimal functionality.

8. Finish: Final adjustments to ensure uniformity and balance in the whisk's form.

By choosing a Takayama tea whisk for your matcha ritual, you're not just selecting a tool; you're embracing a piece of Japan's rich cultural heritage and the unmatched skill of its artisans.
